“The SAC? What’s that?!”

Did you know that your tuition includes a student activity fee whether you utilize the SAC or not?  Do you even know what the SAC is or what it has to offer?  Well I am here to fill you in on what I know by the help of the SAC website and my own experience.

The IU South Bend Student Activities Center is a student centered athletics, recreation and activities building. There is lounge space for students to relax, the Courtside Cafe for a quick meal option, and the Health & Wellness Center.

The SAC is the home of the men’s and women’s basketball teams and women’s volleyball team.  The SAC offers Intramurals, Club Sports, and Group Fitness Class, which there is a cost to participate but an affordable cost.  The SAC offers flexible hours Monday thru Sunday in order to fit everyone’s schedule.  A student ID is required to enter the gymnasium part of the facility.

I think it is important to utilize the SAC because you are paying for the service whether you attend or not.  The SAC is a good place to become involved and meet new people.  I also think it is a good idea to work out and stay healthy.  Research has shown that working out, in general, helps maintain your stress level, your metabolize, reduces the effect of aging and increases your memory.

When you feel stressed from school and hungry from a long day of studying, visit the SAC for a quick jog and a fast meal.  Take a break from your studious life and enjoy what the SAC has to offer!
